SIP Algarve: There's No I in Success
A growing candle company built on community, collaboration and local support.
Their opening event reflected exactly that. Hundreds of people came to support the launch, alongside a wide range of independent local businesses who joined with market stalls and collaborations throughout the day. “It reminded us very quickly that there’s no ‘I’ in success,” they say. “The longevity of any business really comes from supporting one another.” While still in the early stages of their journey, SIP Algarve already feels like part of a growing movement within the region — one that values creativity, collaboration, and community just as much as the product itself. And yes, there has probably been a little too much matcha involved along the way. As they continue to grow, Dan and Ellie remain focused on creating something genuine: a business that feels personal, welcoming, and connected to the people around it. You can find SIP Algarve at the Algarve Candle Company or follow their journey online at @sip_algarve. Leaving behind established careers in pharmacy in the UK to move to Portugal and open a coffee van centred around matcha and community was never part of the original plan. Yet for Dan and Ellie, founders of SIP Algarve, it became a decision rooted in something much bigger: building a life and business together around the things they value most. “We realised we wanted to spend the best hours of the day creating something together,” they explain “Even if that meant taking a leap into something completely different.” With Dan having grown up in Portugal and speaking fluent Portuguese, the Algarve felt like a natural place to begin this new chapter. What started as an idea soon evolved into SIP Algarve — a thoughtfully designed coffee and matcha concept built around quality, connection, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for the local community. Now based at the Algarve Candle Company and open Monday to Saturday, SIP has quickly become more than just a coffee stop. At the centre of the concept is a strong focus on bringing people together, whether through collaborations with other local businesses, pop-up events, or simply creating a relaxed space where people can slow down and connect over good drinks and conversation.
