Welcome to the first edition of The Algarve Family Guide. Having spent most of my life in the Algarve over the past forty years, I have watched this region grow and evolve in remarkable ways. It remains a place of extraordinary beauty and opportunity — but for families arriving today, it can also feel overwhelming. Finding the right school, understanding healthcare, navigating residency requirements and building a trusted network are all part of the journey. And even in the sunshine, settling into a new life can sometimes feel lonely. This guide was created to simplify that process. Inside, you’ll find practical information to help you feel confident in your first steps, alongside a carefully curated selection of trusted businesses, schools and services that I believe truly add value to family life in the Algarve. You’ll also discover features focused on wellbeing, community and connection — because building a life here should feel balanced, not stressful.
